21-day health challenge

I am starting a 3 week challenge to myself to eliminate carbohydrates and sugar from my diet.  Fitness was important to me for a long time. I would work out excessively, but not really care what I was consuming because I lost weight easily.  I led an extremely active life of rowing, dancing, biking, and running. I found that when I moved out of the city, driving to and from my full-time, high stress job had me lead a comfortable, yet unhealthy sedentary lifestyle. It is funny to see how it crept up on me and how hard it is to break the cycle.  It was made up of many small choices that led to this current reality.  I am going to work hard to break this lifestyle with old fashion exercise, revamped routine and a clean diet.  This blog will be my gratification. I look to write once a day to keep me on track and focused through what will be a difficult period. What I will eliminate are sweets, baked goods, potatoes, bread, crackers, and chips.

I completed the Boston Marathon in 2010 and I hope to get my body in shape for another marathon. I want to live a cleaner, healthier, more active life and I think this is the starting point.

Friday- I hope to have completed a 5-mile run in the morning and update the blog on the progress.
